God introduces woman to Adam

The pieces of the mosaic are quite tainted and we can easily reconstruct the inscription thanks to a comparison with the original Latin of the Vulgate: HVH brought woman to Adam and Adam said to JHVH: this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh (latin: Adduxit Dominus mulierem ad Adam dixitque Adam Domino: hoc os ex ossibus meis et caro de carne mea).
The play on the looks and hand gestures of the three characters in the scene is truly remarkable. Just consider Adam’s left arm, outstretched, as a sign of welcoming and his left hand with his index finger pointing towards Eve’s face, to give an added sense of importance to the declaration of belonging and reciprocity.
